For more than four decades Wisconsin artist- designer Luella Doss has captured the attention of many throughout the world with her spirited multi-dimensional wearable art, quilts, and soft sculpture. From 2005-2015, Luella Doss, as volunteer exhibition curator for the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, created 40 exhibitions, many of which have been multifaceted featuring multiple different loaned collections per exhibit. Each exhibit required judging and inspecting each artwork for its overall high level of integrity in detail. Her judging of quilts since the 1980’s began with local and state venues, then the National Grange and extended to the Great American Quilt Contest sponsored by the Museum of American Folk Art. Doss’s creative display acumen sharpened with 20 years of commercial booths at international quilt, gift, gourmet and furniture markets. For eight years she acted as set stylist and assistant to the producer for several public television quilt and home sewing series, most notably “Sew Creative with Donna Wilder”. Recognized internationally as an award winning artist and fabric designer, Doss became a noted speaker, making friends from coast to coast; she served on the Quilt Board at the Museum of American Folk Art in NYC. In 1981, she founded Wisconsin Quilters, Inc. and in 1988, Doss formed the Wisconsin Quilt History Project, since helping to document over 8,000 Wisconsin quilts. She has worked diligently as a volunteer fundraiser and event organizer to create the WMQFA. Luella Doss, an avid quilt collector, is passionate about the importance of quilts and fiber arts in human lives. Join us and experience an evening with Luella Doss. $15. per person.
